The Houston Swoosh 17's were on a 29-game winning streak at Great American Shoot-Outs after sweeping the championships in the top division at all four summer tournaments in 2004. A host of new faces took the floor this spring but not much changed–until the championship game. The Swoosh ran their streak to 33 games before the Southeast Texas All-Stars cut them down to size by a 83-76 score in the championship game of the Houston Spring Great American Shoot-Out.
Southeast Texas All-Stars, made up of players from the Beaumont/Port Arthur area, played an extremely athletic style of ball mixed with a powerful inside presence but fell behind Swoosh early by 10 points and trailed by 8 at the half. Southeast responded strong out of the gates to start the second half and had taken the lead with 12 minutes left in the game behind timely 3 point shooting and break-away highlight reel dunks.
