GASO Memorial Weekend Game Faces: Xavier Bryant and more

Braden Bell was impressive in the paint around the rim on both ends of the court for Urban DFW Elite. Using his long reach, Bell was able to get offensive boards and finish with put backs. As usual, Bell attacked the glass.

When the updated rankings hit the site, Michael Bradley will find himself sneaking in to the top 100. His offense has been consistent, scoring from the mid-range area of the court and he has shown a good change of direction with the ball in his hands. Over the weekend, Bradley looked to get to the rim and sprinkled in some three-point shots.

Xavier Bryant is leading one of the most talented summer teams in Texas and winning a ton of games. He has all the tools you need in your point guard and all weekend the senior to be has proven his division 1 talent. Bryant has made it tough on defenders as he plays physical with the ball in his hands. He has been quick to the hole always being one step ahead of his opponent. Bryant positions his body when he gets inside the lane and finishes at the basket.

One of the fastest rising 2018 prospect is Kris Dixon of Texas Elite-Mitch. Dixon is a strong wing who displayed his ability to knock down the three-ball in bunches and he keeps his opponents off balance with his explosive first step to the paint. He is a well put together athlete with upside as he gets more touches.

Pierce Hellums can get twenty points in any given game and he did in several games during the GASO. Hellums isn't waiting around for others to make plays, he moves around and gets himself open and spaces himself out on the perimeter. His game is multidimensional with an ability to score going to the basket or taking a long range jumper. Hellums makes things happen with his speed to the hole, turning the corner on the defense. His range goes passed the three-point arc, where he makes two or more during a game.

If you are looking for instant offense than Jock Hughes of All 4 Sports Dream Team Elite is your guy. Hughes plays fast and uses a quick triggered shot that the majority of defenders can't close out on. Hughes will drop multiple threes in a hurry and once he has established his outside shot, he will put the ball on the floor and go to the basket.

The TexasHoops/GASO staff would be quick to say that Kennedy Milton is among one of the best setup men of the weekend. The speedy point guard kept his opponents back pedaling as he sliced through defenses to give up the ball to his teammates for easy lay-ins. Milton can score, but he eyed his cutting teammates who were breaking free of defenders to the rim. Milton made soft passes inside to his targets and pushed the ball up court.

He may not be a high level prospect, but Roman Morgan isn't afraid to compete. If you have been watching Morgan in high school and the summer circuit for the past three years, you would have noticed the pace in which his basketball abilities have matured. Morgan goes full speed on both ends as a skilled forward and attacks the basket. He has a nice short corner jumper, hits the open three, and goes inside to score over a smaller defender and rebounds at a high volume for San Antonio GATA.

Luke Pluymen might not light up the stat sheet with his scoring, but when left open he is lethal from deep. He moves well without the ball and always seems to get open when his team needs a bucket. Pluymen was money in the clutch all weekend, scoring the last 5 points of his team's 2OT win over Texas Impact. He is a great passer of the ball and can take over primary ball-handling duties for D1 Houston when need be.

Simeon Soname is a true warrior on the court, who battles for every rebound and really caught the eye of the TexasHoops/GASO staff this weekend with his competitiveness. Soname challenges for every rebound and has the strength and speed to be a lockdown defender. He is a hard worker and isn't shy on the offensive end, using spins and quick feet to free himself to go up strong to the rack.

This might have been the breakout weekend Dalin Williams of the Corpus Christi Bruins needed as he faced plenty of size from his opposition. Williams gave the bigs from Urban DFW all they could handle, scoring 20 from right around the rim. He can bang inside with the best of his class, and has a few post moves that are developing nicely. Based on his performances on the Great American Shoot-Out circuit so far, Williams might be the top small school prospect in the state.
