Hellums to sign with Sam Houston State

Hellums on his decision: “Well (Sam Houston) is close to home and I have a great relationship with the coaches and they want me to be able to make an impact as a freshman. I have looked at all of the other rosters of schools and studied how many freshman they already have and how long I would be playing behind somebody, so I really fit perfectly into the Sam Houston roster and they were my first offer which truly does mean a lot to me because that proves that they believe in me even from the beginning and they want me in their program to help them win games.”

On his relationship with the coaching staff: “He (HC Jason Hooten) kind of reminds me of my high school coach now and that’s a good thing because I really like playing for him and he told me he’s not going to promise me anything and that I’ll have to work and earn my playing time, so it’s just gonna push me to work harder than anyone if I want playing time. He won’t only make me a better player on the court, he will help push me to make sure I graduate and maintain good grades at all times.”

Zarzuela is El Paso bound

Zarzuela on his decision: “UTEP really just felt like home and I knew that’s where I saw my self playing and going to the next level from.”

On his relationship with the coaching staff: “I like how focused they were and the big dreams they had for the school. I feel like I can help that happen and Coach (Rodney) Terry is a really good person and is a coach that I think I can really develop with and will help me get to the next level.”
