GASO Day 1: San Antonio

San Antonio - The Great American Shoot-Out rolled into San Antonio for a two-day tournament with nearly 130 teams. Here are some quick recaps of the day.

ALEVEL GETS WIN IN OVERTIME

The Houston based Alevel Eagles 2017 finished 2-0 in pool play Saturday at the Great American Shoot-Out. The team's first win came against Texas Tigers, 72-62 to start the day at Mission Concepcion. The 10-point win was followed by an overtime victory against Texas Impact, 60-57.

Checkout Kenneth Morris just beating the buzzer in regulation to send the game into overtime. Followed by Patrick Harris nailing the game-winning three-pointer.

POOL PLAY GAME RECAPS

· SA Finest defeated K-Town All-Stars 76-58 behind 32 points from Cooper Walton (2017 - poSan Antonio Johnson). Cooper hit seven threes in the victory.

· David Shepard and Ellis Jones combined for 53 points in the Alief Clovers 94-62 win over San Antonio Tarheels. Shepard finished the game with 31 while Jones went for 22.

· Viper Academy Elite won by four 63-59 over Sanni Hoops. The Vipers received 24 points from Leo Lara, which included three three-pointers. On the other end of the ball, class of 2017 Ajare Sanni (Clear lake) dropped 39 points of his own in the loss. Sanni had 18 at half.

· In a match up of 2018's, 3D Empire from the metroplex of Dallas outlasted the Spurs from San Antonio in an overtime win, 65-53. Empire's Carson Hughes drained five three-pointers to finish with 18 points. Zach Rouseau and Bryce Young each added 11 each. The Spurs received 21 points from Evan Carcanagues.

· BeastMode 2018 got a 20 point win over Texas Prime Elite, 69-49. For BeastMode, Craig Jordan scored 24, while Johnathan Cooper totaled 20 for Texas Prime Elite.

· Rytes Warriors 2018 edged out Texas Champions 2018, 63-62, behind double figures by Derrick McDonald (19 points) and Eden Holt (17 points). Champions relied on Avery Theus (19 points) and Michael Bradley (18 points).

· Carter Elite 17U snuck out a one-point victory over Houston Superstar, 64-63. Aundre Jenkins had 21 and Burone Edwards finished with 16. The Superstars got 25 from Morris, as he hit seven threes in the game.

· Texas Impact 413 finished off Texas Tigers Gold with a 22 point win, 73-51. Unsigned senior Austin Johnson had 18 while Xavier Bryant added 14.

· The Corpus Christi Bruins capture an eight-point win versus NLHA 16's out of Kansas. The Bruins were led by John Cantu and his game-high 17 points and teammate Creighton Avery was right behind with 15.

· HD Toros beat Next Level Raiders 77-65 with the help of 2017 Johnathan Reyes and his 18 points. Sophomore Quenton Coleman knocked in three three-pointers on his way to a 20 point game.

· San Antonio GATA V took care of business during pool play capturing two wins, and turned around and won their first bracket game, 72-68 over Urban ASAK 15. In the four point bracket win, Timothy Benavides hit five three-pointers for a total of 21 points.
