SABO Gold 52 Austin Blazers 37

SABO Gold cruised to a 15 point victory over Austin Blazers to take them to 1-0 in pool play in the Memorial Day Great American Shootout. SABO was led by the one-two punch of Lamont Simmons (SA Reagan 2017) and Jawon Anderson (SA Sam Houston 2017), finishing with 14 and 13 points respectively. Austin Blazers were paced by Dayante McClellan of Del Valle, who finished with 13.

TX D1 Ambassadors West Texas 68 Seawolves 58

Midland Christian 2017 Daniel Venzant put on a show en route to a 29 point performance, lifting TX D1 Ambassadors to a 10 point win over Seawolves and a 1-0 record for the tournament. Adam Rivera (Amarillo 2017) chipped in with 12 points for West Texas. Tracey Jones, a 6-foot-9 2017 out of Mesquite Poteet, led Seawolves with 18, and was helped by the sharp shooting of Brendan Brooks (Lakeview 2017) who hit 5 treys on his way to a 17 point game.

YGC36 2017 Elite 68 Dallas Mustangs 59

YGC36 Elite used a complete team performance to outlast Dallas Mustangs as Marcus Smart looked on from the bench. Mansfield Summit 2019 Grant Sherfield led a balanced YGC36 attack with 14 points, while Muenster 2017 Logan Cook and Chisholm Trail 2017 Ryan Flores both added 9. The early morning victory took YGC36 to 1-0 in pool play for the Memorial Day GASO. Kortrijk Miles (Dallas Lincoln 2017) was high point for Dallas Mustangs in the defeat with a 14 point performance. Umoja Gibson (Waco University 2017) put in 13 of his own.

FV 5:17 78 Texas Impact 4:13 74

FV 5:17 overcame and 8 point halftime deficit on their way to a 4 point win to move them to 1-0 in pool play. 6'9 Zach Lord (Liberty Hill 2017) poured in 24 points in the comeback victory, 17 of which came after the break. Brandon Battle, a 2017 from Link Year Prep (Mo.), chipped in with 20 points. D'Rell Roberts (Cedar Hill 2017) did not record a single field goal in the game, but was a perfect 13/13 from the charity stripe on the day. Xavier Bryant (Greenhill 2018) paced Texas Impact with 20 of his own.

Triumph Gold 85 OK Impact Reed-17 47

Triumph Gold came out of the gates fast and never looked back on their way to a 38 point victory over OK Impact Reed 17. Michael Jankovich (Dallas Jesuit 2018) had the hot hand all game long and finished with 21 on the night. OK Impact Reed 17 were led by TJ Smith who ended the game with 19 points.

3D Empire 67 Top Achievers Red 40

3D Empire used a balanced attacking spread to kick off their Memorial Day GASO campaign off with a victory over Top Achievers Red. Grant Sawyer (Liberty Christian 2018) and Braylen Young (TC Byron Nelson 2018) both hit double figures as their team charged to a 27 point victory. Anthony Vish had 15 to lead the scoring for Top Achievers Red, with Donald Garret III (Rockwall 2018) adding 7.

All 4 Sports Dream Team 58 Vipers Elite 50

All 4 Sports Dream Team of Houston narrowly edged Vipers Elite of the Rio Grande Valley in what was a tightly contested affair between two South Texas teams. Cameron Burkett got things started for All 4 Sports Dream Team, putting in all 9 of his points in the first half of play. From there, it was Jock Hughes' (Houston Yates 2018) turn to take over, hitting 2 clutch three-balls down the stretch that saw All 4 Sports Dream Team hold on for an 8 point win. Ryan Garza (Edinburg Vela 2017) hit 5 treys on the way to dropping 19 for Vipers Elite, with Alec de la Cruz (Edinburg Vela 2017) helping out with 8.

Seawolves 79 FV 5:17 69

Brendan Brooks (Lakeview 2017) of Seawolves turned in one of the performances of the Memorial Day GASO so far, carrying his team with a whopping 43 points, including 8 three pointers. Brooks also went perfect from the free throw line, finishing the game a perfect 12/12. Donald Whiteside Jr. (Mansfield 2017) added 17 to the Seawolves' tally. FV 5:17 trailed by 23 at halftime, but were able to cut that deficit to 6 late in the second half. A major contributor to this fightback was Brandon Battle (Link Year Prep (Mo.) 2017), who had 16 of his 24 in the second half. Zach Lord (Liberty Hill 2017) finished with 14 for FV 5:17.

YGC36 2017 Elite 74 SABO Gold 49

After a tightly contested first half, YGC36 2017 Elite used the superb guard play of Grant Sherfield (Mansfield Summit 2019) to move to 2-0 in pool play on the tournament at the expense of SABO Gold. The 6'2 Sherfield tallied 20 points on the night, including an emphatic two-handed slam to serve as an exclamation point for an impressive victory. John Scully (Flower Mound 2017) tacked on 3 treys and finished with 11 points. SABO Gold were paced by River Reed (SA Reagan 2017) and Jeff Fesperman (SA Churchill 2017), both finishing with 13 points.

Dallas Mustangs 84 Austin Blazers 53

A very offensively balanced Dallas Mustangs squad took care of an undermanned Austin Blazers in a 31 point victory to move to 1-1 in pool play. 4 Mustangs finished in double figures, with Umoja Gibson (Waco University 2017) and Kortrijk Miles (Dallas Lincoln 2017) leading the way with 16 and 13 respectively. Matt Haws (Austin Westlake 2017) nailed 7 threes on his way to a 26 point game, but Dallas Mustangs were simply too much on offense for Austin Blazers to overcome. Dayante McClellan (Del Valle 2017) chipped in with 10 for the Blazers.

Basketball University AG 62 THP Elite 17U 58 F/OT

Basketball University AG stormed back from a 7 point deficit with just over a minute to play to tie the game at 56 with 15 seconds remaining. After THP Elite failed to convert a potential game-winner, Basketball U capitalized by going on a 6-2 run in overtime to secure a victory. Woodlands College Park 2018 Quentin Grimes led all scorers with 21 points, adding a free throw in OT that kept his team up for good. Greg Bowie (SA Athios Leadership) contributed 15 to Basketball U's victory. Mark Wilson (SA Reagan) and Jeff Gary (Austin High 2017) lead THP Elite's offense with outings of 18 and 13 respectively.

Basketball University 16 came out firing and didn't slow down on their way to a 31 point victory of A-Game Green. At halftime Basketball U held a 41-11 advantage, due to the hot start by Greg Brown (Brentwood Christian) who had 12 of his team-high 14 in the opening frame. Houston Christian's Jalon Clark added 12 and North Forest's Jermaine Drewery hit a trifecta of threes on his way to scoring 11. A-Game Green was led by Joshua Brown (B.I.B.L.E. Christian 2017) who canned three triples for 9 points.

Dallas Showtyme 78 D1 Premier Hall 73

Dallas Showtyme ended up on top after a back and forth contest with D1 Premier Hall, led by the 19 points put in by Javon Levi (Killeen Shoemaker 2017). Odyssey Keeling (Dallas Kimball 2017) came up with 14 to help his squad see out the victory. D1 Premier Hall was paced by an impressive 24 point performance by Cameron Gooden (Lone Star 2017). Josh Richardson (Prestonwood 2017) and Gabe Tanella (Homeschool 2017) chipped in with 16 and 12 respectively.

THP Elite 17U 64 SwagHouse 36

THP Elite got into the lane early and often in a 28 point victory over SwagHouse on Day 1 of the GASO. Led by the gritty point guard play of Jeff Gary (Austin High 2017), who finished with 19 on the day, and all-around offense of DeAndre Johnson (LBJ 2017), who added 12 to his team's tally, THP Elite cruised to a solid victory. SwagHouse was paced by Marcus Garrett (Dallas Skyline 2017) with 14, while Daveaun Brookins (Spruce 2017) and Jaylen Baker (Lancaster 2019) contributed 10 and 9 respectively.
