NBA White Bracket Championship Game

Basketball University 16's Gold 64 Lone Star Elite 61

LJ Cryer (Morton Ranch 2020) posted a 30 point game and put on a show in the championship game for Basketball U 16's Gold to take home the NBA White Bracket title over Lone Star Elite. Cryer did it all for Basketball U as a freshman, and showed spectators he could score from all over the court. Pierre Hellums (Concordia Lutheran 2019) distributed the ball well and got 17 of his own.

Lone Star had a clean look to tie as time expired, but the shot came back out off the rim to give Basketball U the win. Marek Nelson (Plano East 2018) capped off a good run of games with a 13 point game after recently being offered by Kansas State. Will Harper (Homeschool 2018) and Kahliel Spears (The Colony 2018) had 11 a piece.

NBA Red Bracket Championship Game

Triumph Gold 64 Texas Impact Unsigned Seniors 57

After surviving several close games and photo finishes, Triumph Gold came out on top of the pile in the NBA Red Championship Bracket after defeating TX Impact Unsigned Seniors 64-57. Ray Pugh (Cedar Hill 2018) finished a very strong tournament with a 14 point game in the championship, with big man David Nzekwesi (Byron Nelson 2018) also totalling 14. TX Impact Unsigned Seniors were led by Waxahachie's Xavier Thompson with 15 and Lancaster's Cameron Bluitt with 10.

After the game, Triumph's (and Justin Northwest's) head coach Mike Hatch had some time to reflect on the weekend with TexasHoops.com's Lyndon Cook:

"We had three games this weekend that we could've lost, two we probably should've lost, but this group just finds a way to win. That's a characteristic that you can't really coach, that's just something they have in them." Hatch said. "The other part is we have good players who shelved their egos to make us better as a whole. For us to win it just reinforces the fact that if you keep pulling on the rope in the same direction, you'll have success."

NBA Blue Bracket Championship Game

Texas Hardwood Prospects (THP) Elite 17U 54 YGC36 16U 45

THP Elite played their way to a 9 point halftime lead, and held YGC36 16U at arm's distance for the rest of the game to take home the Blue bracket championship. Davion Buster (Lanier 2018) was the key man for THP, finishing with 17 in the win. Nicolas Elame (Christian Life Academy 2018) and Brandon Bernard (Academy 2018) totalled 19 between the two of them in a defensively focused game. YGC36 16U did a solid job battling against an older THP squad, but were never able to put together a run to tighten up the game in the second half.

NCAA Gold Bracket Championship Game

Oklahoma Impact 16's 56 North Texas Thunder Elite 55

Oklahoma Impact will go back across the Red River with some hardware, as they beat North Texas Thunder on a game winning layup by CJ Briley (Wright City 2019) with under 3 seconds left in the game. Briley ended up as high point for his team with 10 points, while Kolten Childers (Waynoka 2019) hit a trio of treys for 9 and Joshua Smith (Bentonville 2019) added 8. Isaiah Wyatt (North Crowley 2019) led all scorers with 20 for North Texas Thunder, but was unable to get the ball in for a potential game winning heave.

Clay Durant and Paxton Coley (both Keller 2020) both dropped 8 as their team walked away champions. Marqus Walton (North Crowley) dueled with Roberts in the second half, and finished with 18 in the loss. Kyle Schichl (John Paul II) added 13 for impact.

8th Grade Championship Game

ProSkills Black 57 YGC36 8th Grade 52

ProSkills Black came out on top in a back and forth affair with YGC36, eventually using a late run in the second half to give themselves some breathing room before YGC36 narrowed the gap towards the end of the game. Shannon Lowery went for 16, while his teammates Kenneth Powell and Jimmy Wrick totalled 12 and 7 respectively to clinch the title. Dametrious Crownover (Grandview 2021) and Myson Huff (Frisco 2021) fired back for YGC36, combining for 31 on the night.
