District Champs Survive Round 1

North Crowley 53 Justin Northwest 47
North Crowley took on a disciplined Justin Northwest (17-15) team that head coach Mike Hatch had prepared for the intensity and pressure defense the Panthers were about to throw at them. Trailing by 3 going into the 4th quarter, 36-33, Northwest was able to draw even at 41-41 with four minutes remaining. After 28 minutes of constant pressure from coach Tommy Brakel's experienced group, the Texans finally broke down. A quick 6-0 run fueled by consecutive turnovers put the Panthers ahead by the final margin they would win by.

Lewisville Hebron 48 Euless Trinity 40
This one looked like a route early as Coach Mark Bishop's Hebron Hawks jumped out to a 14-2 lead in the 1st quarter. Coach Mark Villines steadied Trinity as they righted the ship and went into the locker room trailing just 25-22. Hebron's physical, intense and disciplined man-to-man defense never allowed the Trojans to get open looks in rhythm in the 2nd half. A steady diet of free throws down the stretch and Hebron was able to move on.
