TexasHoops.com begins our weekend recap from the Duncanville GASO by looking at some select games from the semifinal round and consolation/3rd place matchups.

Orange Consolation Semi-Finals 3D-Empire 53 SABO Gold 48

Two talented teams found themselves in the consolation bracket with 3D-Empire coming away with a solid win over SABO Gold 53-48. Ryan Agarwal (2022/Coppell) showed the way for 3-D with 19 points and Anthony Black (2022/Coppell) added 12 points. Black was a regular at the foul line hitting 7 of 8 from the stripe. Kyle Castleberry (2021 SA Churchill) and Rodney Hunter (2021/St. Mary’s Hall) paced SABO Gold.

Orange Semi-Finals FOE Elite 17-U 61 Urban DFW Elite 17s 57

FOE Elite got by Urban DFW Elite 61-57 to advance to the Orange finals. Four players scored in double figures for FOE. Reese Smith (2020/Hebron) came away with 17 points, while Kobe Wiggins (2021/Wylie) managed to score 13 points. Adding the FOE totals were C.J. Hall (2021/Summit) with 13 points and Shakiru Odunewu (2021/Universal Academy) with 11. Urban DFW Elite looked to Drew Crippen (2021/Mansfield) with 20 points and Montez Young Jr. (2021/Lake Ridge High) adding 13 points.



Orange Semi-Finals Tx Impact 17-U 78 Strength N Motion 51

Tx Impact continued to impress with a 78-51 win over Strength N Motion. Tx Impact had little trouble with Zhuric Phelps (2021/Duncanville), Jalen Lake (2021/Waxahachie) and Rytis Petratis (2021/Oak Ridge) showing the way. Isaac Orozco (2021/SA O’Connor) had a solid game in defeat with 20 points.



Red Semi-Finals Southern Assault 46 THP Elite 35

Southern Assault advanced to the finals with a 46-35 win over THP Elite. Players that showed their skills for Assault were C.J. Ford (2022/Duncanville), KyeRon Lindsay (2022/Denton Guyer), Khaden Bennett (2022/South Grand Prairie) and Colin Smith (2022/St. Marks). Bennett led the scoring parade with 16 points. Johvante O’Connor (2021/Austin High) and Wilson Rankins (2022/McCallie-Chattanooga,Tn) were the leaders for THP Elite.

Red Semi-Finals Houston Hoops 66 Triumph 16-U Gold 57

After trailing Houston Hoops 17-0 early, Triumph managed to regain the lead at 48-45 with 7:53 left in the game. Hoops went back to their full court pressure and managed to come away with a 66-57 victory. Hoops went on to take the championship in the Red Bracket. Hoops took control of the contest with great team play, sharing the basketball and hustling. Christopher Johnson (2023/FB Elkins) was so impressive diving on the floor and finished with 23 points. His ability to get to the basket was critical to his success. Kendrick DeLuna (2023/SA Cornerstone) was a big factor blocking shots and dominating inside. The young man finished with 16 points on the offensive end. For Triumph, it was a gutty performance with only six players suited up facing the multi-talented Bayou team. Rhodes Crow (2022/Highland Park) put up 4 threes and finished with 17 points, followed by Adam Kirby (2022/Woodrow Wilson) with 15 points. Luke Hardenburg (2022/Highland Park) was impressive throughout the game battling inside against the superior size of Hoops.

Orange 5th place Semi-Finals Houston Raptors 17U Benjamin 37 THP Elite-Blue 35

Azari Woods (2021/Alief Hastings) hit two foul shots with .3 left in the overtime, as the Raptors defeated THP Elite-Blue 37-35. THP Elite had the ball at the end of overtime with 3.8 seconds remaining when they inbounded the basketball. The Raptors, Anthony Ferguson (2021/Cypress Park), stole the cross court pass and immediately hit Woods for the lay-up. Woods was fouled on the play and finished with 18 points for the Raptors, as the only player in double figures. L.D. Butler (2021/Bowie) was the leader for THP Elite hitting 17 points.



El Paso Titans 65 Texas Renegades 60

The Titans came away with a win over the Texas Renegades 65-60 behind Treandre Barber’s (2021/EP Irvin) 26 points. Jaden Wells (2021/Pebble Hills) followed with 15 points. The Renegades were powered by 26 points by Tvondrick Henry (2021/Pleasant Grove).

FOE 16U Elite 69 Texas Elite-Sampson 54

FOE 16U Elite easily handled Texas Elite-Sampson 69-54. FOE was up most of the game by 20 points. T’Johnn Brown (2023/South Garland), Kaden Shelburne (2022/Rockwall), C.J. Luster (2022/Leadership Prep 22) and Caden Marshall(2022/Rockwall) championed the FOE Elite attack. Texas Elite-Sampson saw Kentraile Atkins (2020/Liberty Eylau) finish with 12 points and Javon Hunter (2020/Liberty Eylua) ended up with 10 points.

Dallas Showtime 17U Elite 51 3D Empire 48

Dallas Showtime won an exciting 51-48 victory over 3D Empire. Showtime led for the majority of the game and hung on at the end. Grant Shaw (2021/Prosper Rockhill) and Jason Thirdkill (2022/TACA STORM) were the stars for the Showtime cause with 14 and 12 points each. Anthony Black (2022/Coppell) and Ryan Agarwal (2022/Coppell) were the leaders for 3D Empire.
