Duncanville (#1 6-A) 94 Lewisville (#2 6-A) 66

The showcase game of the evening was between the top two 6-A teams in the state according to Texas Hoops, #1 Duncanville and #2 Lewisville. The two teams met earlier in the season on the GASO circuit, with the Farmers of Lewisville winning in overtime. In that game 6’4” Keyonte George (2022) put up 38 points to lead the Lewisville attack. Duncanville was playing without the #2 recruit in the state according to Texas Hoops, 6’7” Micah Peavy (2020). Peavy recently committed to Texas Tech following former Duncanville standout Jahmius Ramsey.

Peavy came prepared and dominated action finishing with 27 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 dunks and 3 charges. How’s that for a stat stuffer? Duncanville put six players in double figures gaining revenge 94-66. The Panthers led from the outset jumping out to a 15-5 margin early. At halftime Coach David Peavy’s troops had the game well under control at 46-26. As the defending 6-A state champions, Duncanville is picking up where they left off last year. The scoring parade for the Panthers was long with Zhuric Phelps (2021), Ja’Bryant Hill (2020) and Damon Nicholas (2021) all putting up 18 points apiece. Juan Reyna (2021) made his presence known quickly as the San Antonio transfer came off the bench hitting 3 of 6 from three-point land and ended up with 16 points. Reyna said following the game that he was excited to be playing with his new team. Duncanville completely dominated the glass outrebounding Lewisville 46-23.

For Lewisville and Coach Brian Miller it was a disappointing evening. “We just didn’t execute on offense or defense, but we can’t get down, we face Faith Family tomorrow. We need a short memory.” The Farmers once again were paced by George who finished with 27 points. George earned every point he got as he went to the floor on numerous occasions. Look for these two schools to run into each other on down the road.
