The game between 3d Empire and Houston Hoops Elite started off sluggish with both teams finding it hard to hit shots early. -But once the dust was knocked off their shoes, the ball started falling through the net.

3d came away with the win (84-77) behind the team's leading scorer Bryce Young who finished the night with 16 points, which included two 3-pointers. After last weekend's performances by his two brothers (Braylen and Bryant), Bryce used the first game of the day to make a statement that he will not go unnoticed. Bryce found open space on the perimeter knocking in shots and putting the ball on the floor to penetrate. He showed that he has more feel for the point guard position and looks to make more things happen off the dribble. Teammate Grant Sawyer dropped in 15 points of his own hitting two 3-pointers of his own. The man running the team, Zach Rosseau was fast and got inside the defense to hit floaters. All of his 11 points came in the second half and he hit five out of six free-throws. Carson Hughes chipped in with 12 points coming off three-pointers.

Hoops were led by game-high scorer Matthew Strange who finished with 25 points. Strange was able to come off the dribble and find real estate for his jumpers. He had a quick trigger knocking in several shots in transition and nailed five three-pointers.

St Francis (PA) 2017 commit, Marcus Vallien plays hard and though he finished with only 10 points, those scores come from the 5-foot-9 point guard coming off the bounce and scoring in the lane. Vallien can get off the floor and explode. He takes hard dribbles to get through traffic in the open court and takes contact. He is a smaller guard but he is an athlete.

Sneaking away from the main courts, TexasHoops took in a match up in the NCAA division. The Next Level Raiders took on the Fort Worth Jayhawks and had a convincing win, 73-65.

Class of 2019 guard Nate Ghavidel burned the nets for six three-pointers as he shot his way to a game-high 32 points for the San Antonio-based Next Level. Ghavidel has quick handles and had a few pull up jumpers to go along with his threes.

Dustin Mathis finished with 20 (4 three-pointers) for the Jayhawks, while teammate Jimmy Mouser totaled 12, with two three-pointers.

Two prospects that caught the TexasHoops staff eye's were 6-foot-8 junior to be Jacob Harvey (2018/Somerset) for Next Level and 6-foot-7 Nabil Rurangirwa from the Jayhawks.

Harvey has a nice touch from the perimeter and will drill the three, but also dives to the block to score. Rurangirwa is a lanky interior player who played with some bounce around the rim. A bit inconsistent, Rurangirwa has some raw tools to work with.
