Duncanville - As we turn the corner on the summer of 2020, the Great American Shoot-Out was on displayed August 21-23. Players are still taking the court in big numbers and with big numbers of players, you will always find some stock risers. In this article of "Blue's Baseline Views", we take a look at a few players who over the course of the summer are due recognition for their play on the court.
Timme’s game is blossoming
Richardson Pearce’s big-man Walker Timme is starting to develop his game and his body for the next level. His hands and footwork have always been major attributes in his game and now he has grown into his body that has him pushing 6-foot-7. While playing with the Court of Dreams at the Great American Shoot-Out (GASO), Timme was making room in the middle of the paint and scoring at the rim and grabbing rebounds. The bloodline for TImme runs deep as his parents played college basketball and his older brother, Drew, is a member of the Gonzaga college program.
Walker is carving his own way on the court which is much different from his brother, and I don’t believe his overall game or his body is done maturing. Walker’s name has started to pop up in the college coaching circles with calls coming in.
More Court of Dreams
New Kid on the Block, 6-foot-5 Jackson Thoele from Frisco Lebanon Trail High School is eye-catching. He moves without ball, is skilled when he has the ball in his hands, and can get to the basket. He is a lanky guard with the ability to nail the perimeter open look. We will continue to watch Thoele, as we feel there is much to like about his tools.
One more from Court of Dreams is 6-foot-8, class of 2022 Mason Wujek. The Frisco High product is skilled inside and out. Wujek will sit on the block and go to work with his back to the basket. When he moves around and plays within an offense, Wujek will get the ball out away from the paint and knock down shots.
Kiser is starting to heat up
Luke Kiser has stepped off the football field and has become a full-time basketball player, and he is making up for lost time on the court. Kiser is a competitor and plays 100 miles per hour, and without question brings the unique toughness from the field to the floor. Kiser is fast from end to end and plays under control and makes shots from all over the perimeter. He is 6-foot-2 and uses his lateral quickness to cover a lot of space on the defensive side of the ball.
The Proskills (Austin) product has a nice touch and quick release on his shot. First time seeing Kiser (back in June), there wasn't any hesitation on my end on whether or not he can play at the next level, but now with his full commitment to the basketball, Kiser is more appealing and has demonstrated in several games that he is a TexasHoops.Rivals Top 100 prospect in the state of Texas.
McCrakin is another Big-man who is making a splash
Caleb McCrakin has grabbed the GASO staff’s attention as he has blended in nicely in the offense of the HD Toros. He is a big body, and with that body, MCCrakin is able to create space and push his way to the basket where he can score. He gets putbacks and does a good job of rebounding. At 6-foot-9, the San Antonio Harlan high school attendee has shown some much needed bounce around the basket that makes him appealing for his size that he can get off the floor.
