Adams to Westlake shakes up 6A rankings

Repeating as 6A Region IV champions just got a whole lot easier for Austin Westlake. Nationally ranked 2021 forward K.J. Adams, who has been living in Westlake's district while attending St. Michael's, made the move this past week to join forces with Will Baker and Darius McBride at Westlake. Though the Chaps graduated 3 division 1 talents from their state semi-finalist team last year, Adams' addition will shoot Westlake up the ranking boards from their current spot at No.23 in the TABC pre-season rankings. Their current backcourt will have to hit the ground running to keep up the levels of success they have experienced over the past 3 years, but with the trio of Adams, Baker, and McBride on the floor the Chaps will likely play a huge part in the 6A title picture.

Keeping up with the commitments

This week saw 3 major verbal commitments for class of 2019 prospects: Lake Travis' sharpshooting guard Bennett Mohn tipped things off with a commitment to Longwood, while Ty Caswell announced he will play his college ball at Lubbock Christian, choosing the Chaparrals over multiple D1 offers.

Jordyn Adams will be free to focus on a three-peat in class 4A with Silsbee after putting his college decision behind him with a Wednesday commitment to Austin Peay.

Check back next Monday for more commitments as they are announced, as well as coverage of any more breaking hoops news this week.
