Stanley Umude finishes off his recruitment committing to South Dakota

It didn't take San Antonio Warren's guard Stanley Umude long to declare his pledge after returning from his trip to New Hampshire. Thursday evening Umude announced on twitter that he had committed to South Dakota.

"I really feel like we have a chance to do something special. I have faith in the team and the coaching staff is second to none," Umude told TexasHoops.com about his commitment to South Dakota. "They currently have five freshmen including Brandon (Armstrong) who can all play and only one senior graduating, which means that I'll have plenty of time to build chemistry with the team and have a real shot at making the tournament by my junior year. Also, (Head) Coach (Craig) Smith is a great coach with plenty of experience, I really feel like I can trust him to put us in the position to be successful "

Umude continues and explains the set up that South Dakota has on campus.

"The facilities were amazing," Umude expressed. "[South Dakota] recently added a new arena and two brand new practice gyms. The dorms were also something that I enjoyed a lot because they're already furnished and have separate rooms instead of just one open room with two beds. Everyone was friendly on campus and I love how basketball is the main attraction. Also, there was a new arena built about 45 minutes away from campus where the conference tournament will be held which gives us a nice home court advantage come conference tournament time."

Former San Antonio standout Brandon Armstrong is a member of the South Dakota program, and he played alongside Umude during their days of suiting up for the Next Level Raiders. But, Umude said that Armstrong wasn't the sole reason for him committing to the program.

"He played a key role, but I wouldn't say him being there was the deciding factor," Umude said. "The fact that I've played with him and we're good friends is great, and it's nice knowing there's somebody up there that I'm close to and can relate to since we're both coming from Texas."

Umude follows the commitment of Aldine Nimitz 6-foot-8 post player, Walter Prevost who committed to South Dakota on Wednesday.
