Memorial Day GASO: Championship Game Recaps

The final games of a great weekend full of hoops, find out who will be bringing home the awards from the Memorial Day Classic.

Centex Lockdown Elite 69 Lone Star Elite 54

Centex Lockdown Elite ended the weekend as champions of the NBA Red bracket with a composed 15-point victory over a Lone Star Elite team coming off some impressive wins. Lockdown might not have the biggest names on the circuit, but they play as a team and work hard on the defensive end. On the offensive end they have no shortage of weapons, with Luke Hamilton (Lake Travis 2018) going for 17 and Malcolm Greene posting 16 in the game. The play of Jarrell's 2019 AJ Smith hasn't gone unnoticed this weekend, with the guard totalling 9 points in this one.

Lone Star had the momentum coming into the game, but after a flat start to the second half fell behind and couldn't recover. Addison Wallace (Cleburne 2018) has really been impressive over the weekend, getting 12 in this one. Will Harper (Homeschool 2018) also had 12, with Dylan Isenhower (Abilene Wylie 2018) putting up 10.

Texas Impact 4:13 77 Urban DFW Elite 45

Texas Impact was simply not going to be denied the NBA White bracket championship, dominating this one from start to finish for a 32-point win over Urban DFW. Jaylen Walker (Allen 2o18) only had a sneaky good weekend before the final, but wowed onlookers in the title game with a 17-point performance. Xavier Bryant (Greenhill 2018) staked his claim as the premier point guard in Dallas with an all-around game of 16 points. Samuell Williamson (Rockwall 2019) finished an impressive weekend for himself wit ha 12-point outing.

Urban DFW looked off the pace from the tip, and just never really got the offense flowing to their normally elite standards. Kaden Archie (Midlothian 2018) did his part with 13, and Braden Bell (Rowlett 2018) turned in a 10-point game.

Oklahoma Power 17U Elite 72 CCYA Tigers Elite 63

Jalen Crutchfield (Norman North 2018) powered Oklahoma Elite to the NBA Blue bracket title on the back of a 20-point game, including 4 makes from deep. Mason Webb (New Hampton Prep 2018) put up 11, while Kamden Gipson (Edmond Santa Fe 2018) and Blake Owens (Putnam City North 2018) scored 10 a piece in the win.

CCYA Tigers only trailed by 1 at halftime, but couldn't match their offensive output to keep pace in the second half. M'Elijah Wesley (Austin Bowie 2019) was high point in the game with 22, with teammate Brian Batts (LBJ 2019) put up 14 in the championship game loss.

NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP

Boykins Basketball Academy (NCAA) 69 Urban DFW 2020 62

Boykins Basketball Academy eventually came out on top after a back and forth game with Urban DFW 2020 to lift the NCAA championship. Davon Walker (Douglas County 2019) scored a game high 24 for BBA, who are coached by former NBA player Earl Boykins. Branden Temple (Douglas County 2019) scored 13, and Darien Meyers (Lewis Palmer 2019) came up with 11.

Urban DFW 2020 used a big game from Andrew Laczkowski to stay in the game, scoring 23, and Jorquavis Kent made some exceptionally athletic plays in a 9-point day.

NIT CHAMPIONSHIP

Texas Hardwood Prospects Elite 2020's 75 Texas Elite-Mel 15U 72 F/OT

Texas Hardwood Prospects needed an additional 2 minutes to take home the NIT championship, edging out Texas Elite-Mel by 3 points in overtime. Tyler Hadnot (Pflugerville 2020) and Cy Young (Austin Bowie 2020) combined to score 35 points, while Patrick Wilson (St. Andrews 2020) and Riley McIntyre (Bowie 2020) scored 10 a piece in the win.

Texas Elite-Mel led at halftime before THP 2020 came back to force overtime. Westley Sellers (2020) scored 19 of his game high 26 in the second half, while Elijah Thomas (2020) went for 12 as Texas Elite came up just short of the title.

8TH GRADE CHAMPIONSHIP

YGC36 8th 70 Norman Elite 33

YGC36 ran out to a 23-point lead in the first half to take home the 8th grade championship with a commanding win over Norman Elite. Dametrious Crownover paced YGC36 with 14 points, with KJ Liggins scoring 12 and Cooper Sisco chipping in with 9.

7TH GRADE CHAMPIONSHIP

TWA Elite 51 Urban DFW 7th 47

Maurion Horn (Broken Arrow 2022) led TWA to the 7th grade championship game win over Urban DFW 7th with a 14-point game, while Devon Boshoff (Regent) scored 13. TWA of Oklahoma got a 10-point performance from Kelan Carney (Owasso 2022) to boost them to the win in a tight affair. Urban DFW 7th battled hard, but simply couldn't come up with the plays to come back and steal the title.
