The Live Period Great American Shoot-Out has officially arrived, and the field is filled to the brim with elite talent. TexasHoops.com's Lyndon Cook is in attendance to bring you all the action from Day 1's top games.

Team Boost 2018 66 Texas Impact 4:13 58

Kyler Edwards (Arlington Bowie 2018) returned to GASO scene with a 27-point outburst to lead Team Boost 2018 to a 8-point win over Texas Impact in the opening game of the Live Period GASO. Edwards showed he can score at all 3 levels while locking in defensively in a performance that college coaches would have to take note of. Darreus Brown (Provision 2017) hit 22, while Djibril Diagne (West Oaks 2018) protected the rim and showed off his athleticism in the win. Impact was kept in the game by the hot shooting of Nick Rene (Lakeview Centennial 2018), who finished with 5 makes from outside for 23 points. Xavier Bryant (Greenhill 2018) tallied 8 while Marcus Hill (Jesuit 2018) made 2 threes for 6 points in the loss.

RM5 EYBL 17U 84 Sanni Hoops Gold 65

RM5 outgunned Sanni Hoops in a matchup of some of the best scorers in the state. The depth of talent at guard for RM5 is a sight to behold, with all 4 of their top-15 2019 players scoring in double figures. No.2 ranked Tyrese Maxey (South Garland) led the way with 17, No.14 Chris Harris Jr. (South Garland) came up with 15, Denton Guyer's No.4 ranked De'Vion Harmon scored 14, with No.11 Avery Anderson (Northwest) rounding out the group with an 11-point game. Riley Abercrombie (Clear Lake 2018) did all he could to keep Sanni Hoops in the game, making tough shots and drilling threes as he netted a game-high 27 points. Ajare Sanni (Clear Lake 2018) was battling foul trouble all game and finished with a somewhat subdued 13-point game.

Team STAGE 74 Basketball University 17U Silver 48

Elijah Parquet (Beaumont Westbrook 2018) announced his arrival at the Live Period GASO with a 19-point game in Team STAGE's win over Basketball University 17U Silver to open pool play. Parquet exceeded already high expectations for his Live Period debut, hitting 3 threes and getting to the basket with ease. Darion Chatman and Tyler Guidry (both Port Arthur Memorial 2018) combined to put up 25, while Byron Arceneaux (Beaumont Central 2018) added 8. Kam Thomas (Redemption Christian 2018) answered with 15 for Basketball U Silver, with Jalon Clark (Houston Christian 2018) scoring 12 as his team moved to 0-1 for the weekend.

The BluePrint5 64 All 4 Sports Dream Team 60

The BluePrint5 clung on to a 4-point win over All 4 Sports in what was a tightly contested affair to open up their weekend. Tyreek Smith (Trinity Christian 2019) turned a few heads with his athletic play, finishing with an impressive 18-point game. Kelyn Pennie (South Grand Prairie 2018) helped out with a 13-point performance, while Domonique Jackson (Advanced Prep 2018) scored 8 in the win. SFA-commit Jock Hughes struggled to get going in the scoring department but still distributed the ball well, with Kealon Coates (Westbury Christian 2018) finding the range and hitting 3 threes for 11 points in the loss.

Houston Hoopstars Elite 17U 50 NOLA 23 17U 47

Houston Hoopstars had to fight back to come out with a win after falling behind early to NOLA 23 in this gripping contest. Defending 6A state champion Trajan Wesley (Cy Falls 2018) led the way for his team with an 11-point game. Wayne Lott (Belton 2018) was effective scoring the ball, and tallied 8 to go with 7 points a piece from inside duo Rhys Quick (Brazosport 2018) and Efe Odigie (Provision 2018). Marc Bowie paced NOLA 23 with a 12-point display, while Ross Talbot and Jamirre Williams combined to go for 16 as their team dropped their first game of th Live Period GASO.

Yes II Success 17U 80 3D Empire 51

Yes II Success picked up where they left off after winning the Adidas Gauntlet last weekend with a dominant 29-point win over 3D Empire. The guard play of Montre Gipson (Waxahachie 2018) was something to behold, as he went for 23 in the game. Qua Grant (Waxahachie 2018) and Nigel Hawkins (Cy Falls 2018) combined to go for 20 as they manned the other two guard spots. Rivals No.2 player in the nation Charles Bassey (St. Anthony's 2019) was kept quieter than normal, but still finished with a 9-point night, and his post partner Ousman Ndim (St. Anthony's 2018) ended up with 12. 3D struggled to get going offensively all game, but hung tough on defense for the most part. Mason Hix (Northwest 2018) and Carson Hughes (Keller 2018) did their best to keep 3D in the game, scoring 15 a piece in the loss.

Urban ASAK Elite 82 Colorado Miners 17U Elite 73

Urban ASAK got off to a fast start and never looked like being caught in a 9-point victory over Colorado Miners to kick off their GASO Live Period weekend. Brock Cunningham (Westlake 2018) did what Brock Cunningham does and scored 27 in a dominant performance. Cunningham showed off his range early with 2 deep threes and in the second half showed how he can finish through contact. Caleb Golden (Cedar Ridge 2020) turned it on in the second half as part of a 22 point game. Darius McBride (Vista Ridge 2019) and Shasirae Harvey (Austin LBJ 2018) finished with 11 and 10 respectively. Ben Boone (Grandview 2018) fired back with a 29-point game, with Ryan Ongala (Rangeview 2018) adding 15 in the loss.

Triumph Gold 68 Yes II Success/Texas Future 16U 64

Triumph Gold came out on top of Texas Future by 4 in what was an entertaining contest of individual offense between David Nzekwesi (Byron Nelson 2018) and Kevin McCullar (Wagner 2019). Nzekwesi scored 7 in each half for 14 points, while McCullar responded with a balanced 21-point game. Triumph held a sizable lead in the first half, before a second half fightback from Texas Future made things a lot closer. Ray Pugh (Cedar Hill 2018) scored 9 of his 13 in the second half, and Isaiah Stevens (Allen 2019) ended up with 9 of his own. Sayvon Frye (SA Marshall 2019) helped spark the comeback with a 10-point night, with Jacari Sanders (Brennan 2019) adding 10 as well.

Texas D1 Houston 63 North Texas Dynasty 2018 60

Alex Dehoyos (Friendswood 2018) came up with the goods down the stretch for Texas D1 Houston, delivering the game winning assist to Simeon Soname (Shadow Creek 2018) before hitting 2 free throws to ice the win over North Texas Dynasty. Soname showed his athleticism in a 13-point game, with summer breakout scorer Gabe Bazile (Atascocita 2018) leading his team with a tally of 16. Jailyn McQueen (Cy Lakes 2018) chipped in with 13 in the win. Tayron Moffett (North Crowley 2018) hit 4 threes for Dynasty as part of a game-leading 24-point performance, and Josiah Sneed (Burleson 2018) totalled 12.

Dallas Mustangs 17U 54 Texas Hardwork 17 UA 46

Dallas Mustangs got off to a winning start to the Live Period GASO with a defensively-focused 8-point win over Texas Hardwork. Jase Townsend (Dallas Skyline 2018) was getting to the basket and teammate Jordan Buck (Bishop Lynch 2018) found his range from outside with both going for 10 points each. Joel Murray (Rowlett 2018) added 9, and John Weger (Muenster 2018) had back to back and-one's in a second half spurt that saw Mustangs really take control of the game. Justin Nimmer (Waxahachie Life 2018) answerered for Hardwork with 13, while DJ Peavy (Dekaney 2018) and Tristan Green (Boerne Champion 2018) combined for 17 as their team moved to 0-1.
