Isaiah Stevens keeps trending upward after 6A state title

A state champion with Allen during the High School season, Isaiah Stevens has kept his momentum going full speed ahead into the summer recruiting period. The Team Faith guard has consistently put up big time numbers on the GASO circuit and set the table well for his talented frontcourt (Greg Brown and Jordan Turner). Stevens sat down with TexasHoops staff and discussed the state of his game along with the current status of his recruitment.

"Playing at Allen you have to be extremely coachable and really adaptable to change," Stevens said. "Getting out of your comfort zone and being ready to learn on the fly is important to us. We'll have a scouting report on Tuesday and on Friday it'll be something completely different as far as how we game plan for a team. I pride myself on my ability to adapt to whatever my coach asks of me."

Stevens' also talked about the strengths of his game, and what makes him the player he is now: "The best aspect of my game, in my opinion, is my basketball IQ. I feel like making plays for others, being able to read defenses and making smart decisions on the floor are the best traits I have as a player."

Stevens has so far been offered by the likes of Albany, Boston University, Colorado State, San Diego, North Texas, and UC-Riverside, with plenty of other schools interested in the Allen PG.

"Right now I'm just taking it all in, taking it day by day," Stevens said. "I'm being appreciative that schools think that I can come in and help better their program. Right now I'm not planning on committing until the fall, probably before high school ball starts so I can get it out of the way."

Stevens also revealed he will be taking unofficial visits to Colorado State and then San Diego while his Team Faith group is out in California for the Adidas Gauntlet.

When asked about what he's looking for in potential landing spots at the next level, Stevens had this to say: "Being able to go to a school that I feel like is ready for me to make an impact on their program and also help me grow as a player and as a man is my goal."

Stevens is in prime position to accomplish his goal of a division 1 scholarship, and his recruitment is likely far from over considering the eyes that will be on him during the July Live Period.
