Head on down the road

Port Arthur Memorial 6-foot-8 interior man Dorian Chatman has decided on Lamar University as his destination after his upcoming senior year. Chatman is a member of the Nike EYBL squad, Houston Hoops and had received offers from University of New Orleans and Abilene Christian.

Chatman liked the location of Lamar, which is 15 miles away from home in Port Arthur.

"Lamar is a great opportunity for me to go and play in front of my family and friends. It was the best option for me."

Location played a role in Chatman's decision, but the new coaching staff played a factor too.

"The coaching staff that is at [Lamar] have a great bond with their players. It's a family there and (head) coach (Tic) Price is a great person and coach. Lamar is a great school with a history of success in basketball. It an excellent opportunity and people need to come by the campus to see what a great place it is."

When it comes to coach Price and the basketball program, Chatman had this to say.

"We are going to shock the world!"

Texas Hoops Analysis:DORIAN is a strong bodied player that can get the ball and work around the rim. He is good on the boards, and creates space. He will step out and use a face up game.
