GASO Fall Classic Duncanville...Now you know

Micaiah Abii • 2020 • Frisco Liberty

Abii has an athletic built and is strong. He may look like an interior player at first glance, but Abii was a three-point threat, dropping threes with a nice stroke. He also dribbles past defenders and took the ball to the basket. Abii overall was versatile and was one of the best players on the court while he played versus Arlington Seguin.

Jonathan Alexandre • 2020 • Frisco Legacy Christian

One of the more intriguing prospects is Alexandre. He has the body to compete, a three-point stroke and the ability to finish. Alexandre showed upside with his off the dribble scoring and tough lay-ins around the basket. He also did a nice job of running the floor and shooting the ball from behind the line for scores.

Deng Alier • 2020 • LD Bell

Alier did more than his fair share for LD Bell as an all-around player. He had to battle against opponents big men and he rebounded and did his best to push them away from the basket. Offensively, Alier scored from inside and out and worked around the basket on the rebounding part of his game.

Baylor Hebb • 2020 • Colleyville Heritage

Anyone that doesn’t know, Hebb is unassuming prior to the tip of a game. However, once that ball is rolling so is Hebb’s game. It doesn’t matter if the 6-foot-1 Hebb is playing against an “elite” opponent or player, he finds the bottom of the net. He has crafty ball handling skills that assist him in creating separation or stepping inside the arc to hit a mid-range jumper. Hebb maybe a baby-faced junior, but never count him out.

Donte Houston • 2020 • Garland Lakeview

Houston looks to have slid over to the small forward position and played extremely well this past weekend. He scored with smooth finishes and body control in the paint. Using wiry frame, Houston was able to slip by opponents and rebound.

Ben Joelson • 2020 • Colleyville Heritage

Things are brewing on the prospect side at Colleyville Heritage and Joelson is one who has to be circled to see. A lean cut 6-foot-6, Joelson is finding his way on a team that has multiple shooters. Joelson has a chance to be an effective pick and pop skilled forward that will draw attention. He is also good on the glass and plays with bounce.

Tay Mosher • 2021 • The Colony

Mosher is a nice high post player who was hitting the 15-footer while playing against Keller Timber Creek. Listed at 6-foot-5, Mosher also took his game inside the paint and scored off trash buckets. He has a body that is still developing but showed the tools of a next level prospect.

Micah Peavy • 2020 • Duncanville

Peavy is the heartbeat of the new look Duncanville Panthers and the 6-foot-7 junior put his stamp on the program in just his first game at the GASO Fall Classic. Peavy is an elite slashing wing who taken his shot-making ability to a new level. He has always been known for getting to the cup, but now has a balanced offensive game. Playing against Killeen Ellison, Saturday, Peavy drained step back threes, pulled up from 15-feet and crossed over defenders on his way to the rim. His body is packing on weight and he uses his body to create contact.

Other underclassmen notes

• Listed at 5-foot-8, Chase Henderson is a sharpshooter, and he has deep range. Playing for Birdville High, like so many shooting guards that came before him, Henderson is given the green light. Keep a lookout for the freshman (2022) as he hits his growth spurt.

• An intriguing player over the weekend was 6-foot-6 Walker Timme who plays alongside his older brother Drew at Richardson Pearce. Walker is not experienced at the varsity level but definitely knows how to play with some versatility. Walker ran the floor and kept pace with the ball and scored around the rim. He battled inside for boards and played hard.

• From Plano East, 2020 shooter Collin Freeman runs his lane and looks to shoot the three. Has a good stroke and is a good passer when he doesn’t have enough space to get his shot off.

• Also from Plano East is undersized big, Evan Williams. Only a sophomore (2020), Williams runs the floor and uses his strong frame to rebound and get putbacks.

Seniors to keep an eye on

Garren Davis • 2019 • The Colony

The TexasHoops/GASO staff missed out on Davis during the summer and had another opportunity to see him play was good to put in the memory bank. There are some wrinkles that Davis needs to iron out, but he has a lean basketball body and showed flashes of next level readiness. Davis put the ball on the and he ran the court. He showed he nice touch from deep and the ability to defend.

Julius Marble • 2019 • Dallas Jesuit

At first glance, it appears that Marble is healthy and that is great news for both Jesuit and high major programs who want to take a second look at the 6-foot-8 forward. Marble was scoring off the bounce and threw in a few three-pointers.

Zion Richardson • 2019 • Frisco Liberty

Richardson was simply being himself against Arlington Seguin. The 6-foot-5 showed off his polished play by being the main ball handler, a passer, and a rebounder. Richardson made getting by his opponents look easy while using his physical frame. It was too many times to count when Richardson finished in the lane with ease.

Other notes from Fall Classic Duncanville

Niko Bossinakis did a commendable job running as the lead guard for Colleyville Heritage. Bossinakis pushed the ball past defenders and made good decisions. Add that to his shooting ability and you have a recipe for a versatile prospect.

• Frisco Legacy has a shooter with size in Ben Johnson. A 6-foot-4 shooter, Johnson can stroke the three with confidence. He gets open out beyond the arc and fires it up, but Johnson will put the ball on the floor and get buckets at the rim.

• A 6-foot-6, 2019 big man from Richardson High, Armoni Wade has a big body and does a nice job of rebounding and altering shots, and will score around the rim.
