The final day at the Great American Shootout in Duncanville saw some high level games as the championship picture was finally settled after 3 days of hoops. Mark McKee gives his take on the chamionship bouts in each NBA division.

Championship Game -Pool Play Triumph 17U Black 58 Team Tx United 49

Triumph 17U Black got out of town with the Pool Play championship taking down Team Texas United 58-49. Things were all tied at 47 apiece when Triumph went on an 11-2 run to pull away. Tyler Mitchell (2021/Home School) was impressive for Triumph running the point and finished with 14 points. David Deal was effective for Team United and came away with 13 points.

Orange Championship Game – Texas Impact 17U 62 – FOE 17U Elite 49

All 11 Texas Impact players found their way into the scoring column in their teams 62-49 win over FOE Elite. Texas Impact claimed the Orange Championship with their balanced attack. Standouts for Impact were many with Jalen Lake (2021/Waxahachie), Rytis Petratis (2021/Oak Ridge), Calaway Dykes (2021/Decatur) and Zhuric Phelps (2021/Duncanville) just to name a few. Kobe Wiggins (2021/Wylie) was impressive with 19 points followed by Shakiru Odunewu (2021/Universal Academy) for FOE 17U Elite.



Blue Championship Game - Playball Nation 17U 78 Texas Takeover 61

The Blue Division title went to Playball Nation 17U with a convincing 78-61 victory over Texas Takeover. Playball Nation had numerous players contribute to the team’s victory. Donta Coady (2021/Arlington Bowie) led the way with 18 points, while Will Shepherd (2021/Universal Academy) followed with 15 points along with Javen Hutton (2021/Arlington) and Kai Jordon (2021/Universal Academy) each with 11 points. Texas Takeover looked to two players who scored 41 of the teams total 61 points. Antonio Patterson (2021/Dallas SOC) poured in 21 points and Erin Wright (2021/Dallas Carter) added 20.

Green Championship Game - -FOE 16U Elite 64 ATX Future 61

In an exciting finish, FOB 16U Elite defeated ATX Future 64-61 on A.J. Coleman’s NBA range three with 12 seconds left. Coleman(2022/Minshew,La.) also led his team in scoring with 17 points followed by Jace Eagler (2022/Rockwall) and Adrian Banks (2023/Lewisville) with double figures. ATX Future looked to Bryce Friday (2021/Vandergrift) with 19 points and Jack Francis (2021/Austin Anderon) with 20.



Note: Though there was no championship game played in the NBA red championship bracket, Houston Hoops 2023 earned the title via forfeit
