Commitment Rewind: Keaton Hervey will sign with Incarnate Word

It has been a tough road back to recovery for Cedar Park's 6-foot-6, 192 pound forward Keaton Hervey, as the recent Incarnate Word commit will ink his signature on the first day of the early signing period (Wednesday, November 9).

Hervey has suffered another setback in his high school career by re-fracturing his toe. However, Hervey still had offers from Sam Houston State, and Indiana State, besides Incarnate Word.

"It came down to the relationships that I had with the Incarnate Word coaches," said Hervey of his decision. "They stayed with me through all my injuries over that past year and have given confidence to me by showing up to see me. The coaches have been telling me what a great addition I will be to their program and all the big things they have planned for me once I get there.

"One thing is they will play me at the two-guard so I can shoot the ball more from the perimeter."

Hervey mentioned two more factors in determining his college choice.

"When I went on my unofficial I got a great feel for the academic programs at Incarnate Word, and I learned that they have a really good Business program.

"On the basketball side, they are an up and coming program who have beaten some big schools from bigger conferences. The coaches have continued to schedule big programs and hopefully will get more wins against those types of teams."

Cedar Park's head coach Blake Brown is a former college coach and has seen plenty of improvement in his senior.

"Keaton has improved his skill level every year he's been in our program. His three-point shooting and midrange scoring has improved significantly. He's always been a hardworking, humble and respected teammate. I see him developing into a big time scoring threat at the next level because he's already so explosive and a proven scorer. He also has the desire, work ethic and character to impact his team next year from a leadership standpoint. I cannot wait to see him play for Incarnate Word."

Hervey took his official visit to the Incarnate Word campus November 5-6.
