3D Empire 71 Houston Hoopstars 17U 67

The result looked to be done and dusted in Empire's favor with about a minute left to play before a spurt of deadeye shooting from Hoopstars made this one a fight to the finish. After trailing by 11, Hoopstars got the deficit down to 2 before a pair of clutch free throws by Trevon Fuller (Bishop Lynch 2018) sealed the deal for Empire. Mason Hix (Northwest 2018) scored 15, Carson Hughes (Keller 2018) had 12, and the Young triplets combined for 30 in the win. Myles Brown (North Shore 2018) was a huge part of the comeback attempt by Hoopstars, hitting 5 threes in the second half as part of a 20 point game. Efe Odigie (Pro Vision 2018) gave Empire problems on the inside and finished with 14.

Corpus Christi Bruins 50 SABO Gold 42

Corpus Christi Bruins just had too much on the inside for SABO to overcome, getting most of their points inside the paint in a defensive struggle of a game. Dalin Williams (West Texas 2018) is improving his skill set with every game he plays, scoring 14 to go with fellow big Will Chayer's 10. Creighton Avery (West Oso 2018) did the damage from the backcourt, tallying 14. Evan Carcangues (Alamo Heights 2018) led the charge for SABO with a 14-point day, with Jevaughnte Shannon (Steele 2018) adding 9.

Urban DFW Elite 16U 60 Texas Tigers 50

Isaiah Lewis (Frisco Lone Star 2019) showed out for Urban DFW with a 17-point game, as they ran out 10-point winners over Texas Tigers. Zakhari Franklin (Cedar Hill 2019) added 10 in the win. Tigers kept it close for the majority of the game but were never really able to get over the hump. Tigers spread the offense evenly, with no one player stepping up to turn the tide.

TW3D Coalition 70 RL9 16U Elite 64

Sam Freeman (Northwest 2019) went off for 19 points in a tight win for his Coalition team over RL9's 16U squad. New Kid on the Block Max Ambas (Jesuit 2019) is hitting his stride scoring the ball this summer, going for 14 in this one. It was a tight game the whole way, with Coalition leading by 6 at the break before playing the second half to a draw to seal the win. RL9's young guns Noah Thomasson (George Ranch 2019) and Marcus Williams (Clear Springs 2020) combined for 29 in the loss.

San Antonio GATA V 63 Triumph Gold 53

Timmy Benavides (Reagan 2018) hit 4 threes on the way to a 15-point game as GATA V knocked off Triumph Gold in GASO pool play. Avantae Bell (SA Madison 2018) manned the middle for GATA V, going for 13 with Jalen Smith (KIPP 2018) and Roman Morgan (Brandeis 2018) scoring 8 a piece. Isaiah Stephens (Allen 2019) caught fire to keep Triumph in the game, hitting 5 threes for 17 points. David Nzekwesi (Byron Nelson 2018) turned in another strong performance, totaling 19 in the loss.

RL9 Elite 60 Texas Elite - Mitch 37

Semaj Trahan (CyWoods 2019) and Andrew Nguyen (CyFalls 2018) combined to score 31 points as RL9 Elite rolled past Texas Elite by a score of 60-37. Nguyen, a starter for the reigning 6A state champions Cypress Falls, hit 4 threes in the first half to spark RL9's offense into life. RL9 effectively had the game wrapped up at halftime, leading by 22 as Texas Elite never seemed to get out of the starting blocks. Kristopher Dixon (Dawson 2018) led Texas Elite yet again with a 15-point performance.

Texas Elite-Herb 77 3D Empire 76

Texas Elite-Herb put an end to 3D Empire's winning ways so far in the Bryan/College Station GASO, eking out a 1-point win at the wire. Texas Elite got points from all over the court in a balanced offensive attack. Empire came up just short of moving to 3-0 in their pool, and will now enter into bracket play after their weekend's first loss. Bryce Young (Keller Central 2018) took control from the outside, bombing 7 threes in a 28-point game. Mason Hix (Northwest 2018) was reliable as ever for Empire, scoring 23 in the loss.

SABO Blue 90 3D Sports-Gold 83 F/OT

Tyshaun Huey (Sam Houston 2019) went off for 21 points as SABO Blue impressed with some great offense as they won by 7 over 3D Sports in overtime. Keenan Stewart (Cornerstone Christian 2019) scored 4 in overtime to get SABO over the line. He and Anthony Chase (East Central 2019) each totaled 17 on the night. Russell Taylor (Parkview 2019) was the centerpiece for 3D Sports on defense, and scored 6 in the loss.

Urban DFW Elite 16U 82 TW3D Coalition 78

Urban DFW Elite's 16U squad came out on top in a shootout with TW3D Coalition, ending up winners by 4 points. The game was played at a choppy pace, as there were 53 fouls and 6 ejections called during the contest. But ultimately Urban took their chances from the line and clinched their pool. Evan McCarthy got Urban 16U off to a hot start, nailing 4 of his 5 threes in the first half as Urban took an 8-point halftime lead. He would end up with 17, to go with 15 from Isaiah Lewis (Frisco Lone Star 2019) and 13 from Jarius Hicklen (Desoto 2019). Coalition got a huge game from Max Abmas (Jesuit 2019), who poured in 28 points on the day including 4 makes from deep. Trejan Bridges (Hebron 2019) scored all of his 13 points in the second half, but it just was not enough to overtake Urban.

Centex Lockdown Elite 67 Houston Hoopstars 17U 62

Luke Hamilton (Lake Travis 2018) was the story in this one for Centex Lockdown, exploding for 6 treys and 25 points in a narrow win over Hoopstars. Hamilton, the No.64 player in the c/o 2018, has been shooting the ball exceptionally well in the past two Great American Shoot-Outs, and his stroke was on full display today. Prince Umanilen (Manor 2018) was a bruiser inside for Centex, putting up a hard earned 13 points. Efe Odigie (Pro Vision 2018) was held to only 5 points in the first half, but Hoopstars put emphasis on feeding him the ball inside in the second half where he owned the paint. Odigie scored 19 second half points as Hoopstars took the lead for a little while, before Centex recovered defensively to take over the game. Kobe Wilson (Atascocita 2018) went for 16 as his team heads into their bracket.

But a cold start to the second half doomed them to a lopsided defeat. Bradon Barber (FM Marcus 2019) paced The Program with 13, with Kai Barr (Jorborgh 2019) adding 11 in the loss.
