Triumph Gold 67 RL9 17U Elite 52

Triumph Gold pulled away late to defeat RL9 in the NBA Red Championship game after a tight game for most of the contest. Isaiah Stevens turned in an MVP-worthy performance with 20 points, and in the process showed why the 2019 from Allen has already picked up an offer from North Texas. Stevens hit three 3's as he continued his long range assault on the rim from the rest of the weekend. David Nzekwesi (Byron Nelson) added 10. RL9 Elite just couldn't seem to replicate the high scoring play that had seen them make a run to the championship game in this one. Terrion Miller (Pro Vision 2017) paced RL9 with 16 points scored mainly on the inside. Faite Williams (Clear Springs 2018) and Larry Callis (Aggieland Homeschool 2018) also stood out for RL9, combining for 20.

Corpus Christi Bruins 66 PHA Elite 46

Corpus Christi Bruins were up 20 points late in the second half before a series of technicals and ejections saw this game come to a close prematurely. Nevertheless, Bruins were crowned champions of the NBA Blue bracket after a dominating performance from their two big men inside. Dalin Williams (West Texas 2018) is a rebounding force on the inside, and when coupled with the crafty and physical play of Will Chayer (CC Veterans Memorial 2018) the duo takes some stopping on the interior. t Chayer led the way this time, scoring all of his 18 points in the second half, while Williams came up with 13. Nick Guerra (CC Veterans Memorial 2018) chipped in with 14. The Judson 2018 pair of Howard King and Jacob Andrew led the way for PHA Elite in the loss.

NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP

North Louisiana Warriors 64 TX D1 Ambassadors 16U Austin 59

Northern Louisiana Warriors came from behind to edge out Ambassadors Austin 16U to take the NCAA Championship back East to Louisiana. Ambassadors led by 4 at halftime, but an inspired second half saw NLA wrench control of the game away and come away with a 5-point win. David Gregory hit 4 threes for D1 Ambassadors in a losing effort, while Ryan Ward led the way in scoring with 16 points.

NIT CHAMPIONSHIP

Dallas Mustangs North 82 Next Level Raiders 2021's 80

The staggering amount of potential on the court was plain to see in this NIT championship matchup between Dallas Mustangs and Next Level Raiders, with Mustangs hanging on to bring the title to Dallas. Cameron Owens (Pearce 2020) is a big, ball-dominant guard who has a killer pump fake and can really knock it down from the perimeter, scoring 16. Big games from Jaden Clark and Noah Daylen scored 14 and 12 respectively as Mustangs survived a close one. It's not often an NIT division game demands the full attention of the TexasHoops/GASO staff, but that was the case in this one. Next Level Raiders might have one of the best 8th grade teams this state has seen, as they routinely hung 100-plus points on older competition over the weekend. The offenses were firing for both teams in this game as well, with the teams combining to hit 25 threes.

8th GRADE CHAMPIONSHIP

Houston Hoops BlueChips 2021 67 Texas Elite 2021-Marvin 48

Houston Hoops BlueChips's David Martinez (Teague 2021) came out on fire, scoring 15 of his game high 19 points to put his team on course to lift the GASO 8th Grade title. Martinez's hot hand helped HHBC jump out to a 16-point advantage at halftime, while Texas Elite-Marvin struggled to get going. The second half was much closer, but the damage had already been done. Jerrill Colbert (Angleton JH 2021) and Deuce Fatheree (Briscoe JH 2021) went for 10 a piece for HHBC as they rolled to the championship.

7th GRADE CHAMPIONSHIP

Centex Lockdown Elite 7th 66 THP Elite 2022 38

Centex Lockdown Elite's 7th grade squad set the tone for the game with a scoring barrage in the opening minutes to take control of their title game with THP Elite. The two Austin area teams were on two different levels in the first half, with Centex leading 41-14 at the break. Centex hit 9 threes in the game, while THP Elite only had two players score above 5 points. THP fought hard in the second half and made up some ground, but the deficit was simply too much to overcome as they fell by a score of 66-38.

6th GRADE CHAMPIONSHIP

TJ Ford 12U 45 Crusaders 6th Grade 44

The youngest division in the Bryan/College Station GASO also contained one of the closest games, with TJ Ford 12U surviving a stern challenge from Crusaders. No team led by more than 8 the entire game, and points were hard to come by at times. Jayven Coker and Tre Baldwin went for 15 and 13 respectively to propel their team to the title. V.C. led Crusaders with 11 in the loss.
