Tyler - Morris Dunnigan led the Blinn Buccaneers to a 64-54 win over the Tyler Apaches, Wednesday night, as he scored a game-high 24 points.

The first half ended with Blinn taking a five-point lead into the locker room, 21-16, behind Tulsa signee Corey Henderson's 11 points. It was a slow-paced first half, but Buccaneers head coach Scott Schumacher didn't mind the style of play.

"We were winning, and we told our guys that we were fine. Tyler missed some easy buckets, but we held them to 16 points."

The second half saw an increase in scoring from both teams. Blinn built on their first half five point lead and stretched it out to double digits four times, but the Apaches would have an answer. The lead reached as many as 14 in the closing minutes of the game, but Schumacher wouldn't relax until the final buzzer.

"I never felt comfortable during any time of the game," said Schumacher. "I kept telling our guys to take quality shots because I knew we would have limited amount of opportunities. "

Dunnigan saw his scoring chances increase and scored 18 of his 24 in the second half.

"Morris has been our scorer, and we tried to get some ball screen action for him to go and create. He got a couple of good looks from behind the three-point line that got him going."

Blinn entered the NJCAA Top 25 Tuesday, at No.23. The Bucs improved to a 13-2 overall record and 4-2 in Region 14.

"This Region is a grind," added Schumacher. "This league is about staying focused and mentaly tough. Each team has great players and each coach does what they have to do to prepare and to coach on their sideline."

When asked if there was anything that he felt that the team had to improve on, the Blinn coach simply said "No".

"When you win a basketball game you did enough things the correct way to win. I'm happy about tonight and that we won."
