The Old Coach Showcase Line Camp This Weekend

The Old Coach Offensive / Defensive Line Showcase Camps

The Old Coach once again will host One-Day Competitive Line Camps involving some of the top offensive and defensive linemen throughout the state of Texas. We are inviting some of the most recognized underclassmen from across the state to participate in Showcase Line Camps Directed by Tony Johnson from The Assembly Line Five Camps.

TheOldCoach.com believes some of the best offensive and defensive linemen in the nation are located in Texas and expectations are high for this year's attendance. These Showcase Camps are for elite prospects that are true competitors and want to go against the best of the best.

This is the sixth season for The Old Coach Camps and in the past some of the top athletes in the state have participated. This is the third year that The Old Coach has teamed with Tony Johnson for the line camps.

"We were very impressed with the turnout and the talent at our first two years of camps. It has been an exceptional opportunity teaming up with The Old Coach" said Assembly Line founder, Tony Johnson. "This gives our athletes a chance to be recognized on a state and national level that other camps do not and cannot offer."

"We've had talented athletes come from all over the state and we expect this year to be no different. In the past linemen from Central Texas, Greater Houston, East Texas, the DFW area, and The Panhandle have attended," Johnson added. "Our camp is designed not just to serve the Metroplex but reaches out to the entire state. In our opinion, offensive and defensive lineman are the most under coached positions in all of football. People, including college recruiters, are taking notice of what we have to offer athletes at our camps."

Ryan Peschka is in the class of 2015 and the 6-foot-3, 300 pound junior starter at Mansfield Timberview attended the camp last year. Peschka gives his take on the event.

"I thought the camp was great last year. There were so many more drills and technique opportunities than at other camps. I loved the individual work at this camp and I was really impressed with some of the kids whom I have not had a chance to see. Coach Johnson really loves working with linemen and he has helped my technique a lot," Peschka said.

Coach Jim Rapp from the Woodlands football staff has brought multiple athletes to the camps including his son an All-District center last year.

"Coach Johnson and the camp staff enforced in our kids what we believe in at the Woodlands. Coach Johnson and the staff are great technicians. I loved the fundamentals taught at The old Coach Camp," said Coach Rapp.

All of the attendees of the line camps benefit from a systematic coaching approach developed by Johnson and implemented by the veteran camp staff.

Mark Common was another All-District athlete from The Woodlands had an extremely good camp last year showing nice one-on-one pass blocking skills and has the ability to play guard or center at the next level. Mark's dad had some nice comments after the camp for others that might consider future attendance.

"I want to officially thank The Old Coach and Coach Johnson for the camp. My son not only received top notch state of the art coaching but also had a great time. The staff ran an impressive camp. I only wish that more young lineman could attend, I would recommend it to any lineman that wants to learn and get better at their craft," said Mark Common.

Johnson believes that his system for offensive linemen is unique and helps kids work on things that combine type camps often ignore.

"We focus on technique and muscle memory. We teach the kids all the little things that need to be taught. This is not a combine. We are interested in getting you the tools you need to be properly evaluated on film by a college coach and be able to use that technique to dominate your district," said Johnson.

Teaming with The Old Coach was a great partnership claims Johnson.

"The Old Coach has almost 30 years of coaching experience and does a great job with his camps, getting kids exposed, and working with parents on recruiting. This year it will be enhanced and streamlined for the athletes to gain additional reps. I am looking forward to our camps this year and then watching what these kids do next fall," concluded Johnson.

Grand Prairie will be the first location for 2014 The Old Coach Linemen Showcase Camps. Athletes can register for The Old Coach Line Showcase Camps by going to this link:
