Video: Willie Cauley-Stein talks name change, UK-KU

NEW ORLEANS - As Kentucky prepares to face Kansas in the national title game on Monday, a future Wildcat from Kansas is also in town and closely following the action.

UK signee Willie Cauley-Stein is also debuting a new last name.

Cauley-Stein, a 7-foot center from Olathe, Kan., played in Sunday's All-American Championships all-star game at Lakefront Arena with the name "Cauley-Stein" on the back of his jersey.

He said he added it as a tribute to his mother, whose last name is Stein. (His father's last name is Cauley.) He plans to go by the hyphenated name at UK next season.

Cauley-Stein had four points and seven rebounds for the West team, which lost to a team of East all-stars 84-72 in the first game of a double-header.

He was on the same team as UK 2013 twin targets Andrew Harrison and Aaron Harrison. Andrew, a point guard ranked No. 1 in 2013, had 13 points for the West. Aaron, a shooting guard, had four points and four steals.

UK 2012 target Nerlens Noel had six points, six rebounds and three blocked shots for the winning East team.

Cauley discussed with the media his thoughts on potentially playing with all those players at UK. He also discussed the name change, the atmosphere in New Orleans this weekend and his thoughts on UK squaring off with KU.

Kentucky junior commitment Derek Willis was playing in the second game of a double-header at the All-American Championship, although Cauley said he doesn't know him.
