- USC head football coach, Pete Carroll, after athletic director Mike Garrett indicated he was "very dismayed" with the Trojans' 8-4 regular season finish in football.



The 2009-10 championship season for autumn sports ended last week when California became the last conference team to succumb at the NCAA Women's Volleyball Championship when the Bears lost to Penn State in the Elite Eight.

Meanwhile, at NCAA HQ, tickets for first and second round games in the men's 2010 basketball championship are sold out at the Spokane Arena in Spokane but tickets are available at eight other venues across the country.





USC

In football, defensive back Josh Pinkard will miss the Emerald Bowl due to a knee injury suffered in the regular season-ending loss to Arizona and running back Stafon Johnson intends to turn pro.



WSU

In men's hoop, Wazzu defeated Idaho and Air Force to improve to 8-2 overall on the year with a 78 RPI.

In women's hoop, Wazzu defeated Montana State and lost to Portland to move to 4-5 overall on the season with an 86 RPI.

In football, Wazzu received a verbal commitment from JC offensive lineman David Gonzales.



Stanford

In women's hoop, sophomore forward Nneka Ogwumike was named as the conference's player of the week.



California

In men's hoop, senior guard Patrick Christopher was named as the conference's player of the week.



Washington

In football, the Husky football program committed an NCAA violation with a recruit's visit to a local night club.



UCLA

In men's hoop, the Bruins defeated New Mexico State to improve to 3-6 overall on the year.



Oregon State

In women's hoop, the Beavers defeated UC-Irvine to improve to 6-2 overall on the year.



Arizona State

In baseball, former head baseball coach Pat Murphy says he was named as the conference's forced to resign or be fired by ASU.



Arizona

In administration, athletic director Jim Livengood is one of three finalists for the open athletic director position at UNLV.



Oregon

In men's hoop, the Ducks lost to Saint Mary's to drop to 4-4 overall on the year.
