Price sets Iowa visit
Austin Price is setting up his official visits, including one to Iowa, and has a plan in mind as far as what he will be looking for on those visits. The 2013 guard from Michigan, who places a high value on education, says that he is looking for the right mix of athletics and academics.
"In the end it will probably be the school that has the best combination of high level basketball and good academics. I also want the opportunity to play a lot in my career," Price said Monday afternoon.
The 6-foot-3 guard from Detroit Country Day High School has scheduled three visits for the month of September. He will start with an official visit to Lehigh and then the following weekend he heads to Yale.
"Lehigh has been recruiting me very hard since the spring, so I want to take a visit there and will be doing that next weekend," Price said. "The next weekend I am going to visit Yale. They have been recruiting me really hard for a while."
After those two visits, Price is set to see the University of Iowa, who offered following the summer evaluation period.
"The Iowa coaches have been telling me that they like me a lot. I haven't talked to Coach McCaffery since he offered, but Coach Dillard says he likes the way I handle the ball and shoot the ball. He says I have a high basketball IQ and I make good decisions with the ball. He also talks about playing at Iowa and playing in the Big Ten."
Price says that he has grown up watching Big Ten basketball and would like to make his final decision by the November signing period.
"I would like to make my college choice before the start of my senior season, so the November signing period would be my preference. But, I could wait until the spring if I am not ready," he said.
